Now live and work in Abu Dhabi as ADDED launches freelancer license
Are you planning to move out of your current job and start your own consultancy? Abu Dhabi’s Department of Economic Development has just made it easier for skilled professionals, both residents and nonresidents, in specific categories to apply for a two-year permit without the need for sponsorship by a company or the assistance of a local agent or UAE citizen. The Dh 530 freelancer permit comes with a mandatory requirement for office space and allows applicants to apply for residence visas. The applicant can sponsor his/ her family in the UAE under the family visa, which will be valid for two years.
To get hold of the license, applicants can call Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) on 02 815 8888 or register a new account with the website www.adbc.gov.ae or the app “AD Business Centre” available for Android and Apple devices. Apply for the “freelance license” under the “commercial license” category and provide details like name, passport number, mobile number, email address.
The documents needed to apply are: a proof of expertise in the economic activity chosen; and no-objection certificate for residents employed in the government sector or private sector under a permanent contract
Under the terms of the recently issued resolution, ADDED has identified 48 economic activities that can be practised with a freelancer license. These can be listed as:
